St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh
The practice carried out a Quinquennial Inspection of the cathedral in 1998, which identified the need for major repairs. We were subsequently appointed as the Conservation Architects for the complete restoration of this Grade A listed building.
A Conservation Plan was prepared and identified the works required which included the cleaning of all stonework, complete re-roofing, repairs to stained/leaded glass, replacement of mechanical and electrical services, restoration of the carillon and clock, repair and replacement of mosaics, and the provision of disabled access.
Major renovation and repair works to the cathedral commenced in 2001 with grant aid from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
